Recently my pastor, J.D. Greear, preached a sermon on the book of Ecclesiastes. One of his points in this message is that the collection of Old Testament wisdom books — Proverbs (wisdom principles for how life ought to work and often does), Ecclesiastes (wisdom for the seeming meaningless of life in a broken world), and Job (a wisdom perspective for intense suffering), — must be read in concert to have a complete picture of how God would have us live wisely in a broken world.

Proverbs, Eccles., & Job must be read in concert to see how to live wisely in a broken world. Click To Tweet

If you have tried to live by the book of Proverbs and felt like it failed to address the messiness of life in a broken world and the complexity of relationships with broken people, I highly recommend this sermon to you.
